Spring Salmon fishing draws to a close with good success
As the last few days of April come and go, the early Salmon season is almost over and it is time to get ready for the big ugly (lingcod).
May 1 is the opening day for lingcod.

Area 8.2
Open till April 30 for salmon
Limit is 2 salmon, Chinook (Blackmouth) must be fin clipped
Elger Bay has been the best producer this past week with keeper fish up 10 lbs and the state boat reporting catching and releasing one at 16 lbs, so there are some nice fish to be had. Although the catching has been inconsistent with some days being good and others showing little sign of bait and fish, the northern portion of area 8.2 is still the spot to be.

Saratoga passage was the place to be this past week as the fish and bait are both showing in good numbers.
We marked lots of bait on Saturday and Sunday along the Camano shoreline and there were some decent Blackmouth taken all the way up into Elger Bay.

The weather was beautiful and the fish were cooperating on Saturday as we were fishing at Double Bluff.
Flat calm water, sun shinning, spectacular views of all the mountains with their snow capped peaks, it just doesn’t get any better than this!

Opened January 16 for Blackmouth allowing two clipped Chinook
Still spotty with limited success stories.
Possession Bar did produce at least a couple fish late last week for a couple die hard fishermen that I know.
Port Townsend has some fish in the area of Mid Channel bank and around Marristone Island with some of them being nice fish to 13lbs

Opened November 1 for Blackmouth
Friday the 25th was good on the Race Track and around Camano Head, then Saturday it was slow and the wind made for miserable fishing conditions.
South Hat produced several keepers over the weekend for those able to get out.
Very few people fishing what with the wind, snow, rain and anything the weather can throw at us

Blackmouth salmon catching good
|
The winter Blackmouth catching on the Race Track , between Hat Island and Camano Head has been good since just before Christmas. we are fishing with Tomic plugs and Yellowtail Coyote Spoons down at 80 to 100 feet deep.
Possession Bar opens on January 16 and there are good indications.
