Three generations catch limits of Winter King Salmon
|
Winter Kings are biting Area 8.2 Open for Blackmouth now till April 30, 2010. Limit is 2 Salmon, Chinook must be fin clipped.
2009 comes to a close with good fishing.
We had good success on Saturday the 26th with fish up to 11 lbs at the shipwreck and Bait box. Then on Monday 28th we really got into them at Columbia Beach. We landed 10 fish total with 6 keepers going into the box, one 27 inch fish with a fin on and 3 shakers. The hot lures were number 4 kingfisher cop car and cookies and cream spoons, 40 inches behind green hot spots, fishing on the deck in 120 to 130 feet of water.
Elger Bay was good and still holds fish, but the seals have become a big problem there the past few days.
Area 8.1 Open for Blackmouth till April 30, 2010 Limit is 2 Salmon, Chinook must be fin clipped.
North Bluff and Green Bank both produced fish for those who stayed at it this past week.
Area 9 Closed to salmon fishing till January 16. Should be a good one.
Area 10 Open for Salmon till January 31, 2010 Limit is 2 Salmon, Chinook must be fin clipped.
The Blackmouth are biting at Jefferson Head even after the bait has diminished, but the seals are still stealing the fish before you can get them to the boat. Try the East shore line by Shilshole, West Point or North towards Richmond Beach.

two very nice Blackmouth for Jim
|
Crisp, clear morning provides spectacular sunrise with fish catching as an added bonus. I got a tip from one of my insider anglers to go try fishing at the Shipwreck. Caught the fish on a Kingfisher Spoon behind a Green flasher in 120-140 feet of water with 150 feet of cable out.

What a Great day on Sunday winds finely stopped and the fish were biting great. We had 14 hook ups and brought 7 very nice keepers home with use.. With the biggest three being in the double digit size. There are plenty more to be had out there so now is the time for winer Blackmouth.

Megan with a nice Blackmouth
|
Megan the trooper poses with one of the blackmouth caught today. Rain and wind greeted us as we arrived at the fishing grounds on Possession Bar, so what’s new, as that has been the story most days this past month with very few days when we could even fish. Well it looked fishy and the waves were only a couple feet so we deployed the gear. A green Squid behind a green flasher on one side, a king fisher lite white spoon behind a green flasher on the other side and a Tomic 603 plug in the center. Not long after we started trolling the king fisher spoon starts bouncing with a fish on, but unfortunately a seal grabs the fish and breaks the line, lost one complete flasher and spoon. The waves are starting to bother Megan and she feeds the fish, but hangs in there without a single complaint. Next line to go off is the plug and it turns out to be a shaker just under legal size, then the bite stops as normal during the tide change. We move to the center of the Bar for the outgoing tide and the wind and waves have stopped so thinks are looking good. It doesn’t take long before the fish start biting and in the next couple hours we lose a couple more to seals, release a native, a shaker and land 8 keepers. Megan recovers and lands her fish, so all is good.

Grandsons catch fish for Coho Derby
|
The past 4 years I have taken my oldest grandson fishing in this derby and this was the youngest first time. They each entered a fish and that allows them to participate in the kids division where all kids get a prize. What could be better, quality time with PaPa, catching a fish, then getting a toy for entering it in the derby. A great event and thanks to all the sponsers.
