Winter King Salmon Fishing
Finally Winter King Salmon fishing has officially arrived on Possession Bar.
Trolling the ledges and drop offs looking for bait and then feeding Winter Kings will be priority number one.
Fishing 90 to 200 feet deep with King Fisher lite spoons or Green Squids behind Jim’s Breakaway Flasher will be my number one attack lure.

Coho/Coho
Where are they?
That is an excellent Question and if some one has the answer please step forward to the head of the line.

Yes there are Coho being caught by some of the good and or occasional lucky fishers, but the overall catches are significantly down for last year at this time. For example the Edmonds Coho derby checked in slightly over 1/4 the number of Coho as last year.

So how do you overcome that and be one of the good or lucky fishers with Coho in the box at the end of the day?

Five helpful tips.
1. Fish often and fish hard
2. Use tried and true fishing gear; this is not the time to experiment with new stuff.
3. Network with other people before you go and try to find where they have been biting. But remember these are moving fish and yesterdays fish do not guarantee today’s success. Networking goes both ways so sharing when you have success is a good idea.
4. Keep your gear in the water, a keen eye and ear to where they are biting, but don’t spend all day running as you will usually catch less fish when it is all said and done
5. Plan to be fishing at the peak times of the day, early morning and around tide changes. Low tides have been best bites in past years when the Coho fishing has been spotty.

Remember above all else fishing is about quality time with friends, Family or maybe just yourself if that is who you fish with. Enjoy the moments of relaxation as there is more than enough hustle and bustle going on in our lives today.

The peak Coho fishing is usually not till later in September and we are not there yet, so don’t give up yet.
