Bradley with 12 lb winter King
|
The Winter Kings are showing in better numbers each and every day now. Although the wind was blowing enough to keep some of the fishermen off the water, we got out to North Hat and fished the Race Track Saturday morning. Some good bait and fish marks early, but no bites till around 10 AM, then we hooked and landed three good Winter Kings, with the largest being this nice 32 inch fish weighing around 12 lbs. The best lure today was a Chrome Coho Killer spoon 38 inches behind a green Flasher fishing 91 feet down on the downrigger in about 100 feet of water.

Winter Kings
|
Catching improves in Area 8.2 over the weekend. With very nice weather there were lots of boats out fishing and some of them caught fish on Saturday and Sunday. Port of Everett and Camano Island ramps both had better checks than the past few weeks.
We caught a couple keeper salmon at Columbia Beech and had another couple chances on good hook ups at the South side of Hat Island, but failed to land either one of them.
Best lure has been a 4 inch tomic 603 plug trolled by it self or a green and white Coho Killer spoon 40 inches behind a green hot spot, fishing within 20 feet of bottom in 90 to 130 feet of water.
Here are the Hotplug Derby Results from last weekend:
1st Place - Ron Lampers 16.1 Lbs - Winnings $2133.00
2nd Place – Greg Lindell 16.1 Lbs – Winnings $948.00
3rd Place – Rick Wahlbreak 15.7 Lbs – Winnings $711.00
4th Place – Greg Koeje 13.14 Lbs – Winnings $474.00
